A #NewYorkCity coffee shop is giving back to local hospitals during the #coronavirus #pandemic as the number of patients continues to surge in the city.
Justin Mattera, the owner of Blend: Coffee & CoWork coffee shop, said that when nonessential businesses were ordered by the state to close, his company took a hit, News 12 #Brooklyn reported. “We started a campaign just being transparent telling everybody what we needed to stay open,” said Mattera.
But Mattera’s brother gave the shop a generous donation and requested it be used for a good cause. “My older brother, he actually donated and said if you can send some coffee on my behalf to a hospital, I would love that,” said Mattera.
The coffee cups themselves actually have written messages and Bible verses as sources of inspiration.
Mattera himself has started to ask others to donate free coffee to hospital staff, and people have been doing their part since. “As of this morning, we were a little over $4,000,” said Mattera on Friday.
Mattera says he would continue to give free coffee to local hospitals as long as donations keep pouring in, and those who are still interested in donating can go to Venmo and search @blendbayridge to make an online payment. #binspirednews
