mosaics
In November 2025 a new opportunity presented itself to me. During my travels in China, I found a mosaic factory where I can transform my digital paintings into physical mosaics.
This is the first time trying out mosaics. It's an exciting time for me to explore new methods and materials. The feeling to finally translate my digital creations and bring them into the physical realm is undescribable.
Each piece is available to buy in my website store here:

Ceramic Heart
'Ceramic Heart' is based on an earlier painting of mine called 'Fractured Intimacy'. I painted 'Fractured Intimacy' in March 2025 on my iPad, so it is a digital painting. I finished it in May 2025 and sold it in June 2025.

'Fractured Intimacy' symbolizes a new start for me. It's the first artwork where I explore a more sexual motive. I also painted it in a time of great change in my personal life. I just recently divorced from a 4-year-long marriage and embarked on a trip through China. It was also here in China where I later discovered a mosaic factory, where I could transform the digital work into a physical mosaic made out of ceramics. When I visited the factory for the first time, I could instantly feel connected to the place and felt a creative energy. I picked up some ceramic pieces and tried, almost instinctively, to recreate the face of the woman in 'Fractured Intimacy'. I had many digital paintings which I could have chose as a first piece, but for some reason this one stood out to me the most.

Over the next days, I recreated the whole painting piece by piece. In the end the mosaic contained hundreds of cermic pieces, each pieces carefully cut into shape with special tools.

This was my first ever attempt to create a ceramics mosaic, so I had, and still have, a lot to learn. I received great support from the factory team, which guided me and helped me a lot. Without them, I could not have completed my painting. The end result turned out quite different from the original digital painting I did. Many of the shards in the digital painting are bigger than the physical version, and also the colors had to be slightly changed as I tried to work with the ceramics which were available at the factory. Ultimately, I embraced the difference between both pieces. It added another layer of depths and once I accepted the difference it gave me more creative freedom. Now I treat both works as two seperate pieces.
Methods
Each piece is made out of hundreds of small ceramic pieces that have to be cut into the right shape with special tools. Some mosaics also are integrated with glass and stone in addition to the ceramics, so they are multi materials.
Here are a few pictures of the artistic process:
'The Overthinker' (2025)

THE OVERTHINKER
'The Overthinker' is my second mosaic. It's based on my digital painting 'Shattered Thought', which I created in 2023 as a reward for some of my collectors.
'Shattered Thought' (2023)
'The Overthinker' symbolizes the power of thought. I created the piece in parallel to reading the book 'The Power of Now' by Eckhart Tolle, which paradoxically gave me a lot to think about as well as the ability to stop thinking all together. Thinking can be very dangerous if you do it subconsciously and can lead to great suffering.

More ceramics mosaics are in production.
